Beer-Simmered Hot Dogs topped with Beer-Simmered Sauerkraut
Ingredients
For the Sauerkraut:
- 3 c. refrigerated saurkraut
- 1/2 c. dark beer
- 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
For the Hot Dogs:
- 6 Field Plump & Juicy Wieners and Franks
- 12 oz. beer
- 6 hot dog buns
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
Directions
For the Sauerkraut:
- Simmer sauerkraut, beer, and sugar in a large skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper, and set aside.
For the Hot Dogs:
- Bring the beer and sugar to a simmer in a medium skillet over medium-low heat. Add the hot dogs and let simmer until the dogs get plump, about 8 minutes. There should be some remaining beer syrup in the pan. Keep it! You’ll need it for later.
- Grill the hot dogs on medium for about 7 minutes.
- If you’d like, you could toast your hot dog bun on the grill.
- Build your dog! Top with sauerkraut and mustard. Enjoy!
